From My Heart

From an early age, I dreamed of improving the conditions of rural Nepal—a passion that has shaped my life. After moving to Kathmandu, I explored a variety of professions, including government work, running my own business, and spending over a decade in the tourism sector. During this time, my family was very successful. My eldest son followed in my footsteps in tourism, while my middle son excelled academically in the United States, receiving numerous awards. We were truly blessed with happiness and prosperity.

But life took an unimaginable turn. In just nine months, I lost both of my sons—one in a road accident in Kathmandu, and the other in the U.S. The grief was indescribable, and for a long time, my world felt dark and empty.

Yet, even in my darkest hours, a new sense of purpose emerged. Rather than simply mourning my children’s loss, I honored their legacy by carrying forward their dreams of creating a better world. In their memory, with the support of my family and friends, I established Laxmi Pratisthan, a memorial foundation dedicated to social transformation. Through this work, I strive to continue their vision by improving the lives of others.

What began as a personal tragedy has now become my life’s mission. The pain of losing my sons has deepened my commitment to social service, guiding me to focus on areas like education, medical treatment, and humanitarian relief. I am determined to create positive change, particularly in rural Nepal, where I have always sought to make a difference.
